Tourists received, origin, spending, employment in tourism, number of companies in the sector, tourist satisfaction, safety in destinations... On the Dataestur website, you can check a wealth of information and analyse the changes in tourism data. Below you can check the dates for when the main sources in the sector will be updated.

GENERAL TOURISM DATA DE TURISMO

FRONTUR – Statistics of tourist movements at the border
Monthly.
Between the 1st and 4th of each month, publication of the data referring to the penultimate month. For example, the data for November of the previous year will be published in January.

ETR – Resident tourism survey
Quarterly.
Data for the previous quarter is published in the last days of the current quarter. This means that the data for the first quarter of the year is published between 26 or 30 June.

EGATUR – Tourist spending survey
Monthly.
Data referring to the penultime month is published between the 1st and 4th of each month.

Turespaña market trend reports
Every six months.
Market trends for the summer season are published in April, and market trends for the winter season are published in October.

Distribution of spending by foreign visitors on their visits to Spain
Quarterly.
This experimental INE statistics is published four months after the end of each quarter and coincides with the publication date of EGATUR. You can consult the spending by country in each autonomous region, as well as its distribution per visitor and per day.

Measurement of tourism from mobile phones
Monthly.
This is also an experimental statistic from the INE, published in the first five days of the month with the data referring to the penultimate month. It shows the origin of foreign and national tourists up to the municipal level, and the international destination of national tourists. It features a history of data back to July 2019.

Tickets sold and spending on leisure activities and shows
Monthly.
A dashboard with information provided by Atrápalo regarding the sale of tickets for activities and shows at the provincial level is available in Dataestur. It is updated at the beginning of each month with information from the previous month.

Citizen security
Quarterly.
Data published in the quarterly reviews of the Crime Statistical System from the Ministry of the Interior. You can consult the updated information in Dataestur, which is usually published during the month after the end of the quarter.

ECONOMIC DATA 

Price and consumption index in tourism and hospitality  
Monthly.
INE publishes the price index from the previous month between days 12-15 of each month. You can check the information referring to the Tourism and Hospitality section in Dataestur.

Activity indicators from the hospitality sector and travel agencies, tour operators and booking services and related activities
Monthly.
Between the 18th and 22nd of each month, the INE publishes the data for the penultimate month. For example, the statistics for January are published on 22 March.

Tourism employment according to the Active Population Survey, prepared by Turespaña
Quarterly.

From the Dataestur website, you can access information on the number of active, employed and unemployed people in tourist activities in the tourism sector. The data is updated around the 26th of the month after the end of the quarter.

Registration with Social Security, with details from the Tourism sector
Monthly.
Turespaña's own research, with data available in Dataestur. The information for the previous month is updated between the 15nd and 17th of each month.

Employment and occupation statistics in tourism in Smart Destinations.
Quarterly.
Information provided by the State Public Employment Service. The data is published in Dataestur around the 10th of the month after the end of the quarter.

Tourism and travel data in the balance of payments
Monthly.
Data provided by the Bank of Spain, which updates the information from the penultime month on the last days of the current month. For example, data referring to January is published on 27 March.

Active companies associated with tourist activity, from the Central Business Directory (DIRCE)
Annual, every December.
The annual records published by the National Institute of Statistics on active companies. In Dataestur, you can track detailed information on companies and local units of activities associated with tourism.

Tourism Satellite Account of Spain
Annual, every December.
The summary statistics on economic indicators of tourism in Spain published by the INE.

Spending of non-resident travellers in the European Union deducted from tax refunds
Quarterly.

Monthly information on spending in Spain by buyers who are not residents of the European Union. It is calculated from tax refund transactions managed by Global Blue, which has a market share of approximately 70% in Spain.

TRANSPORT DATA

Air traffic statistics, provided by Aena.
Monthly.
Around day 15, the data for the previous month is published.

Notes on scheduled air capacity from the source countries prepared by Turespaña
Monthly.
On the last day of the month, the data referring to the next month is published.

Scheduled air capacity in main airports in Spain, prepared by Mabrian.
Monthly.
At the beginning of the month, Dataestur publishes the data referring to the current month. Specifically, it shows information from the airports of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca, Malaga, Girona and Alicante.

Port traffic statistics, provided by Puertos del Estado.
Monthly.
The figures for the previous month are published in the last week of the month.

Statistics of regular interurban land traffic of passengers by bus and railway on medium and long distance lines with data from the INE.
Monthly.
Data from the penultimate month is published between the 9th and 12th. For example, the dashboard with the information for August is updated on 11 October.

CTH – Hotel tourist climate: occupancy survey, price index and profitability indicators
Frequency: monthly
The INE publishes the data for the previous month between the 22nd and 24th of each month.

EOAT – Occupancy surveys in non-hotel tourist accommodation and prices: tourist apartments, rural tourism accommodation and campsites

The figures for a month are published between the last days of the next month and the first days of the month after that. For example, the data for February would be published on 25 March. And the data for March would be published on 3 May.

Tourist homes in Spain and prices, with data from the INE and Informa
Every six months.
Dataestur shows the data from the INE's experimental statistics measuring the number of tourist homes in Spain and their capacity, combined with data related to prices from the Informa source. The information is updated from the INE publications for the months of June and December, which refer to the months of February and August respectively.

Number of companies and workers in accommodation and restaurant services
Quarterly.
The Dataestur dashboard shows a snapshot of the latest data provided by Informa.

SUSTAINABILITY DATA

Air quality in Spain, with data from the National Air Quality Index (ICA)
Monthly.

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge publishes the National Air Quality Index with real-time data on air quality from the records of air quality measurement stations. Dataestur updates a monthly dashboard for analysis of the changes in air quality in each autonomous region.

Weather information, with data from the National Weather Agency (Aemet)
Monthly.

Dataestur shows data on temperature, hours of sunshine, ultraviolet index, rainfall and wind provided by the National Weather Agency. You can check the data and any changes by weather station.

INSIGHTS DATA

Reports and statistics that provide insights about the sector in Spain and include:

Outlook reports, Quarterly analysis of data from all Dataestur sources to get a closer look at the reality of tourism in Spain.
Quarterly.
Reports are published at the end of the following quarter. For example, the first quarter report is published in July and the second quarter report in October.

Monthly.
The analyses are carried out on online publications and social networks in Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque. The reports for the previous month are published between the 5th and 10th of each month.

Ratings of tourist attractions by tourists, with data from Informa
Quarterly.
Dataestur shows the latest quarterly data provided by Informa on ratings of tourist attractions and resources by tourists.
