Service Sector Activity Indicators (SSAI)

The Services sector activity indicators (SSAI) measure the short-term evolution of the activity of companies belonging to non-financial market Services, through two variables: turnover and employed personnel. Turnover comprises the amounts invoiced by the company for the provision of services and the sale of goods. Employed personnel includes both wage-earning and unpaid personne.
The turnover of the Overall index, and that of the Hospitality sector, which includes: Accommodation services and Food and beverage services, are analysed here. Data is also provided on the activities of travel agencies, tour operators, reservation services and associated activities. The current basis for calculation is the year 2015.
Service Sector Activity Indicators:
Service Sector Activity Indicators study the population of the companies whose main activity is described in sections G, (Trade), H (Transport and Storage), I (Hospitality), J (Information and Communications), part of section M (Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities) and part of section N (Administrative and Support Service Activities) of the National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE 2009).
Hotel and catering:
The activities included in the group Hospitality, according to CNAE 2009, are: Accommodation services and Food and beverage services.
The activities included in group 55, Accommodation services, according to CNAE 2009, are: 551 Hotels and similar accommodation, 552 Holiday and other short-stay accommodation, 553 Campsites and caravan parks, 559 Other accommodation.
Food and drink services:
The activities included in group 56, Accommodation services, according to CNAE 2009, are: 561 Restaurants and mobile food services, 562 Event catering and other food services, and 563 Beverage serving establishments.
Travel agency, tour operator reservation service and related activities:
The activities included in group 79, Travel agency, tour operator reservation service and related activities, according to CNAE 2009, are: 791 Travel agency and tour operator activities, and 799 Other reservation service and related activities.
