Tourist area:
The group of municipalities in which there is an abundance of tourists. Information on the main areas of tourist interest is offered. In the document "List of municipalities included in each area" from INE, the main tourism áreas of interest are detailed, along with the municipalities that form these areas.

Tourist site:
Municipality with a significant tourist offer. Municipality with a significant concentration of tourism offer. The publication of the results meets statistical criteria according to the number of establishments in the sample that are located in the municipality and respond to the survey. In the specific case of hotels, responses from at least 8 establishments are required.

Value “Null”:
This value appears on the map when filtering for “Tourism areas” or “Tourist points” and placing the cursor over an Autonomous Region that does not have any tourist areas or points.

Campsites:
Land spaces properly delimited, equipped and conditioned, destined to provide people, in a habitual way and by means of the payment of a stipulated price, a place to live outdoors for a limited time with vacation or tourist purposes and using as residence, mobile shelters, caravans, tents or other similar easily transportable elements. All campsites in Spain are investigated, with the exception of Ceuta and Melilla where there are no establishments of this type.

Campsite categories:
The campsites are classified according to their facilities and services, in the following categories: luxury and first, second and third.

Estimated pitches:
The estimated number of pitches on a campsite is defined as the sum of: - estimated pitches - estimated bungalows - estimated caravans belonging to the campsite - estimated undivided area used for camping in seasonal establishments.

Occupied pitches:
Defined as the sum of: occupied pitches, occupied bungalows, occupied caravans belonging to the campsite, and occupied undivided area.

Average annual variables:
Annual average of the variables: estimated number of places, estimated number of open establishments, number of pitches, and employees: If selecting the filter for a full year, divide the aggregate annual data by the number of months to see the annual average of the variables.
