Dataestur's monthly active listening report has been monitoring tourists' interactions on social media since April. On the one hand, the activities with the most mentions by topic are analysed. On the other hand, the most popular visits for each source market are identified.
The following graph shows the tourism products that received the most social media engagement in March, by category. Thematic routes and visits stand out, in particular as regards nature, culture and gastronomy. Topics such as Wellness and Nightlife have their social media mentions highly concentrated in a few products. You can see the details by topic in the graph.
The available data also makes it easier to identify the most popular visits among tourists by market of origin on a monthly basis. For example, in March, Las Fallas were a highlight in Germany and France, as well as in Spain. Another major festival, Spain's Carnival festivities, were the most talked about in Spain and France. In France, Seville's April Fair is already among the tourist attractions with the most mentions.
The charts below show the Spanish tourist attractions that have generated the most interactions in the last month from Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany and France. The notable concentration of references to El Médano (Tenerife) in the British market and the importance of culture across all markets are worth particular note.
