Greenways (Vías Verdes)

Spanish Railways Foundation

Annual greenway usage data.

Vías Verdes has been monitoring the use of some of its routes since 2020 by means of usage counters. Usage distinguishes between pedestrians and cyclists. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the use of this infrastructure.

The following graphs show the evolution of the average number of uses registered for each monitored greenway and the distribution of its uses.

Data recorded in 2024

The table shows the uses registered during the year 2024 in seven different autonomous communities. Greenways whose data are pending revision (Vía Verde de Monfragüe and Camino Natural Vía Verde Mina Jayona) and those with only partial data for the year (Camino Natural Vía Verde FC Guadix-Almendricos, with data from the end of November) are not included.

Finally, the variation in the recorded uses of greenways is shown with data for the years 2023 and 2024.
